Requested Agenda Item Description: The Office of Homelessness and Criminal Justice Reform has been awarded a Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) planning grant by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grant is to be used to support planning efforts and coordination of funding for housing for youth experiencing homelessness, aged 24 and under. This will be done in coordination with the Salt Lake Valley Coalition to End Homelessness and the Youth Experiencing Homelessness Task Group. Salt Lake County Youth Services and the Youth Action Board will be involved in all planning efforts as well. Funding may be used to support activities such as the administration of an RFA, staffing, travel, and compensation for Youth Action Board members who provide lived expertise. The YHDP Planning Grant was awarded in October of 2023. The Total Award is $83,042 and will require a cash or in-kind match of 25%.
