Budget Adjustment: IT Department Requests to Transfer their Centralized Budget for Microsoft Licensing to Individual Agencies.

Requested Agenda Item Description: As the Microsoft licensing model has evolved, we need to re-evaluate the current licensing we have around the County use of email, Office365 and SharePoint usage. Microsoft has added significant features and capabilities which the County is unable to take advantage of due to our inconsistent licensing with regards to the MS Productivity suite. Having the ability to work from home disconnected from the County network is also a capability that the County needs; the earthquake and COVID cases have demonstrated how important this is. Having all County employees and other users on an up-to-date and consistent suite of productivity tools allows for additional features and capabilities to be enabled, including some citizen facing systems. IT was allocated the budget to upgrade MS licenses throughout the county with the intent of transferring the budget to the County Agencies when the upgrades were completed. This adjustment completes those budget transfers.
