Title

Budget Adjustment: The Health Department Requests 6 Merit Positions.

Body

Requested Agenda Item Description: During the 2022 General Session, Utah State Legislation approved a funding increase ($4M statewide) to support Minimum Performance Standards (Utah Admin. Code, R380-40) for local health departments. The Salt Lake County allocation is a $814K increase. The intent is for expansion and improvement and cannot be used to supplant other funding sources, including County funding.

With this additional funding, the Health Department requests 6 merit positions to expand and improve the services to meet the required Minimum Performance Standards set by the state. Since this new additional funding is now written to the code, the funding proves to be stable so the positions will be merit instead of time limited.

2 FTEs of Epidemiologists
