Title

Approval of Appointments to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

Robynn Masters, District 1

Danny Schoenfeld, District 6

John Warnas, District 2

Body

Requested Agenda Item Description: The Council will vote to approve the appointments:

Robynn Masters
Danny Schoenfeld
John Warnas

Robynn will represent District 1, is active outdoors, provides an inner-city bike, trails, and transportation perspective, and has previous recreation experience as the director of Steiner Aquatic.

District 6 nominee is Danny, and he provides a multi-generational user perspective, is passionate about accessibility, actively golfs throughout the county, has participated in city planning efforts, and his data expertise will be valuable in utilization and finance considerations.

John represents District 2, is an active user of our amenities, an advocate of open space, is passionate about fitness, has experience as a planning commissioner, and has lived experience in the westside (north and south) of the valley.

Parks & Recreation went through a thoughtful process to recruit and select these board nominees. Social media and email marketing were used to solicit board applications and we worked with several current Advisory Board members to interview applicants. Final candidates were prioritized based on district needs. These three individuals rose to the top of our vetting process because they best represent the needs of their district, their skills align with our mission and because of their investment in and knowledge of their respective districts/communities.
