Initiation of Animal Ordinance Updates for Forest Recreation (FR) and Forest Agricultural (FA) Zones

body

Description:  Regional Planning and Transportation has been working with the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District (MSD) to revise the Animal Ordinance for Forest Recreation (FR) and Forest Agricultural (FA) Zoning Ordinance.  The current ordinance requires a conditional use permit for horses or livestock. The updated ordinance establishes a baseline of horses per acre. Salt Lake County Health Department, Public works, MSD and Regional Planning and Transportation have been in collaboration on the ordinance update process. Staff would like to place the attached ordinance on the next available County Council agenda to initiate the process of public input on the proposed ordinance. This is coming before the Council at this time per Council’s practice/direction that it receive a heads up on zoning ordinance updates before they go through the public process of community council and planning commission recommendations.
