Requested Agenda Item Description: The Clark Planetarium (CP) is seeking to fill one (1) vacant seat on the Clark Planetarium Advisory Board. The planetarium accepted applications from across the county. Promising candidates were granted interviews with CP staff and board leadership subsequently, the interview panel discussed each board member and their alignment with our strategic plan and general planetarium needs.
We are recommending the following to candidate to fill the vacancy and have listed the reason(s) why:
Emily Lehnardt is currently a science teacher in the Granite School District. She created the Utah Women Astronomical Society which focuses on STEM and astronomy outreach. Her love of knowledge, exploration, and space is contagious as is her indefatigable talent for teaching. Emily's school awarded her Teacher of the Year in 2017. She was also awarded Utah Science Teacher Association's 20216th Grade Science Teacher of Year award. She's a NASA Solar System Ambassador, she has a master's degree, loves to travel, and loves sharing her passion about space exploration with others. She resides in District 4. We currently have three board members from District 4.
