Title

Acceptance of a Monthly Donation of Blankets from Karen Heaton with Project Linus to the SLCo Health Department Home Visiting Programs.

Body

Requested Agenda Item Description:  The Salt Lake County Health Department’s Home Visting Program received a donation of 29 blankets on 2-6-25, with an in-kind value of $580, from Karen Heaton with Project Linus.

Ms. Heaton would like to continue with monthly donations of blankets to the Home Visiting Program though the end of the year, with amounts varying based on need and inventory. It is anticipated that the total in-kind donations in 2025 will be approximately $5,000.

The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

These blankets will go to children in the Nurse-Family Partnership program, Parents as Teachers program and, if supply allows, the Targeted-Case Management program to give to the children who our nurses visit.  These Home Visiting Programs serve approximately 400 high risk newborns and toddlers each month.
