Requested Agenda Title:
Title
First Reading of an Ordinance Approving the Northwest Canal and Creek Hydrology Study
Formal Adoption May Occur at the April 4, 2023 Council Meeting
Body
Requested Agenda Item Description: Due to the pace of new development throughout Salt Lake County it has become apparent that the studies that address storm drainage and flood control development need to be updated to reassess predevelopment stormwater release rates and how those rates will impact the County’s Flood Control Facilities. In the spring of 2021 amendments to the Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, Title 17, Chapters 04, 08, and 20 were approved, outlining how those studies were to be conducted and adopted. Pursuant to these ordinance changes, the Northwest Canal and Creek Hydrology Study has recently been completed and is required to be approved. Pursuant to Utah Code section 17-27a-212, a public hearing is required before SLCo can adopt this study for the affected unincorporated portions of the County. A public hearing needs to be set and the Council will need to decide to approve and adopt the newly completed Northwest Canal and Creek Hydrology Study.
The study is too large to include as an attachment, so there is both a link and a QR code attached at the bottom the memo and the Ordinance.
