Set a Public Hearing on 3/28/2023 to Accept Comment on the Northwest Canal and Creek Hydrology Study for the Affected Unincorporated Portions of the County

Body

Requested Agenda Item Description: Due to the pace of new development throughout Salt Lake County it has become apparent that the studies that address storm drainage and flood control development need to be updated to reassess predevelopment stormwater release rates and how those rates will impact the County’s Flood Control Facilities. In the spring of 2021 amendments to the Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, Title 17, Chapters 04, 08, and 20 were approved, outlining how those studies were to be conducted and adopted. Pursuant to these ordinance changes, the Southwest and Northwest Canal and Creek Hydrology Studies have recently been completed and are required to be approved. Pursuant to Utah Code section 17-27a-212, a public hearing is required before SLCo can adopt these studies for the affected unincorporated portions of the County. A public hearing needs to be set and the Council will need to decide to approve and adopt the newly completed Southwest and Northwest Canal and Creek Hydrology Studies.
