Budget Adjustment: Arts and Culture’s Request to Eliminate the $1,700,000 Transfer from the General Fund to UPACA

Requested Agenda Item Description: Due to the effects of COVID-19 on Eccles Theatre (UPACA) operating revenues and to meet UPACA’s required capital reserve contribution, a one-time contribution of $1.7M from the county’s General Fund to UPACA was budgeted in 2021. Recently UPACA was awarded an SBA “Shuttered Venue Operator’s Grant” and the contribution from the General Fund is no longer needed (reference budget adjustment #23384). This request eliminates the contribution. Also note that the budget for this contribution was recategorized from a one-time fund transfer to a one-time contribution after the 2021 June Adjusted Budget (reference budget adjustment #22144).
