Consideration of Corridor Preservation Projects Recommended by the Council of Governments (COG) at the COG Quarterly Meeting Held on January 16, 2025Body

Requested Agenda Item Description:

The Salt Lake County Corridor Preservation Fund receives $3.00 from each $10.00 Motor Vehicle Registration Fee in SLCo specifically for preserving roadway and public transit rights of way in the County. Funding requests for consideration of corridor preservation funds are submitted, evaluated, and recommended by the COG Public Works Committee annually, which then forwards their recommendation to the full Council of Governments membership for a vote to move forward a positive recommendation to the County Council for approval.

On January 9, 2025, the COG Public Works Committee convened to review applications and hear presentations from various jurisdictions seeking funding from the Salt Lake County Corridor Preservation Fund. Three new projects and additional funding for a 2021 project were forwarded to the full membership of COG. During their meeting on January 16, 2025, COG recommended that the County Council consider funding the corridor preservation projects as recommended by the COG Public Works Committee.
