Requested Agenda Item Description: This is a budget neutral request with no impact on County Funding. Health was awarded a new 5-year grant (Partners for Success) with funding of $97,000 per year. This request is to fund a new 0.75 time-limited FTE and related operating budget. This new grant is to enhance the implementation of community centered evidence-based prevention based on the following expected grant outcomes:

? Alcohol compliance checks: focus on building relationships with and supporting all local law enforcement agencies in our county to complete these checks with retailers, identify barriers to completing the checks, and provide the retailer and merchant education.

? Prevention messaging campaigns: focus on bringing prevention messaging campaigns to Salt Lake County area. Salt Lake County is the most populated county in the state and has not actively participated in these messaging campaigns due to internal capacity. These readily available campaigns are helpful tools to implement universal strategies to address favorable attitudes and social norms to substances.

? Policy support and assistance: focus on identifying gaps in preventative evidence-based policies in local areas, mobilize local areas to be more active in policy change that supports a substance-free environment, and building relationships with local policy makers to support prevention-focused policies.
