Requested Agenda Item Description: Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation is seeking approval from the County Council to continue the My County Rec Pass-a transformative initiative launched in 2024 that provides free access to recreation centers for youth ages 0-18.

This program was presented by Mayor Jenny Wilson, and backed by the Salt Lake County Council, and the Tourism, Recreation, Culture, and Convention (TRCC) program, and has already enrolled nearly 78,000 young residents since its inception on June 1, 2024 .

The My County Rec Pass offers youth complimentary access to a wide range of amenities, including:

Open plunge at 18 swimming pools
Public skating at three ice centers
Supervised climb time at two climbing walls
Open gymnasium time
Weight rooms Fitness areas
Walking tracks

To enroll, parents or guardians can register their children at any Salt Lake County-operated recreation center by providing proof of residency. Youth aged 18 may register independently. Children under 10 must be accompanied by someone aged 14 or older at all times.

The program has been instrumental in promoting healthy, active lifestyles among the county's youth, fostering community engagement, and ensuring equitable access to recreational opportunities. Continuing the My County Rec Pass aligns with Salt Lake County's commitment to enhancing the well-being of its younger residents and building a more inclusive community.
