Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation Lifeguard Wage Overview

2022

                     P&R has an estimated $600,000 annual personnel under expend because of inability to fill the majority of PT and FT vacancies

                     Requesting additional $230,606 to cover increased wages for aquatic professionals (lifeguards and swim instructors)

                     Combined total of $830,606 will cover the hourly increase of $3 more per hour, to allow the following:

o                     $11-14/hour during lifeguard training

o                     $14-18/hour once certified as a lifeguard depending on experience; starting wage of $15.55 once trained if no previous experience

o                     $16-19/hour for trained/certified swim instructors

2023

                     This will result in a request of $964,964 in ongoing funds to cover lifeguard and swim instructor wages implemented in 2022
