Requested Agenda Item Description: Council approved this deferred maintenance project for Youth Services Water Efficiency Landscaping on March 1, 2022.

This is the request for the project budget. Youth Services campus' irrigation system is 25 years old. The water lines, sprinklers and irrigation control system are outdated and require regular repairs to broken pipes, sprinklers, and other aspects of the system. Every season the system develops more leaks and the quantity of water wasted increases along with the level of effort to keep the system running.

With the severe drought conditions, the County’s initiative to reduce water usage, and a desire to be an environmental example to Salt Lake County citizens, this project will allow Youth Services to redesign its landscape and grounds for water efficiency. The desired outcome is a low maintenance, low-water use landscape that provides a pleasing appearance to clients and visitors while helping to reduce water use and labor to maintain it.
