Requested Agenda Item Description: Council approved this deferred maintenance project for AAS Sunday Anderson Senior Center on March 1, 2022.

This is the request for the project budget. The Sunday Anderson Senior Center has been an important gathering place and resource for Salt Lake City’s west side residents for many years. The remodel will address deferred maintenance needs, including several costly and necessary repairs to improve the building layout and address safety concerns. The most critical of these are a replaced HVAC system (the center has problems with heating and cooling every year), updated restrooms, replacement of several windows. Additionally, the exterior of the building needs new siding and guttering, along with landscape redesign and replacement. The project will also expand the kitchen to be suitable for a café model to provide nutritionally balanced meals.

The remodel will position the center to be the emergency response site and its new kitchen will provide meals and services safely and effectively in the event of a large-scale emergency.
