Consideration of a Resolution of the Salt Lake County Council Approving and Authorizing Delegation of Authority to Further Reduce Parking Violation Penalties in Limited Circumstances

Requested Agenda Item Description: In 2023, the Salt Lake County Council authorized the MSD to reduce parking penalties by $50 for first-time offenders and by $25 for second-time offenders to resolve appeals and to reduce processing costs of such appeals. Because some sections of the Cottonwood canyons are prone to avalanches that complicate the County’s ability to maintain appropriate signage, this Resolution would further enable the MSD to reduce parking penalties to $25 for appeals claiming that parking signage was not visible.
