Title

First Reading of an Ordinance of the Legislative Body of Salt Lake County Enacting Section 2.12.160 of the Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, 2001, Entitled “Consolidated Office of Salt Lake County Recorder and Surveyor” in Order to Consolidate the Offices of Salt Lake County Recorder and Salt Lake County Surveyor into a Single Office and Establishing the Duties of that Office

Body

Requested Agenda Item Description: This proposed ordinance would consolidate the Offices of Salt Lake County Recorder and Salt Lake County Surveyor into a single office with one elected official, effective January 2029. This proposed ordinance also establishes the duties of the new consolidated office, consistent with Utah Code. If approved by the Council, the ordinance would adopt and comply with the substantive procedures of Utah Code to effectuate the consolidation, including provisions that would require the county to contract with a licensed land surveyor if the person elected to the consolidated officer of Recorder and Surveyor is not a licensed land surveyor. This ordinance would not impact the upcoming elections or the next terms of office for Salt Lake County Recorder and Salt Lake County Surveyor.
