Requested Agenda Item Description: The Sheriff's Department is requesting an increase of the retirement contribution for all sworn Tier II Hybrid employees. This will cover the increase the Utah Retirement System (URS) has calculated of 2.14% for sworn for the upcoming 7/24-6/25 year period. The Sheriff's Department, as of 5/7, has 625 active sworn with 359 (57.4%) being Tier II Hybrid with an additional 51 sworn positions that are vacant. This request will cover the 410 active sworn and expected Tier II Hybrid positions for the corrections and public safety bureaus.
An analysis will be completed for the Law Enforcement Bureau (LEB) as positions are filled. Currently, it is unknown how many positions will be Tier II Hybrid. A future budget adjustment or true up will be presented at a future date in 2024 once the majority of positions are filled.
